Hello, welcome to Wild Earth Calm Heart, I am Caroline and I am grateful for you being here today.Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping is a gentle yet powerful tool that helps you release emotional blocks, calming your mind and bringing balance to your body.EFT can be used on a huge range of issues from stress, overwhelm, anxiety, phobias, cravings, pain, and stress-related medical conditions. It can help to improve confidence and self-worth, sleep and relaxation, emotional resilience and personal growth.

How does EFT work?

When you are stressed or anxious your brain activates it’s alarm system, (the amygdala) triggering a fight-or-flight response, raising cortisol (the stress hormone) and putting your body on high alert. By tapping on specific acupressure points on your face and upper body, while focusing on the troubling issue, signals are sent to your brain which helps your body realise that it is safe. The next time the trigger is experienced the brain associates it with safety rather than stress so the results are long lasting.Scientific research shows that just one hour of tapping will on average reduce cortisol by 43%. That is huge and even just a few minutes of tapping can have a benefit. To find out more about EFT and the evidence from scientific research

EFT for Schools

EFT is scientifically proven to regulate the nervous system and can be used to almost instantly reduce stress and anxiety bringing calm and peace. Even children can easily learn the tapping points to be able to self-regulate. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our classrooms were calm, peaceful, focused places? With just a couple of minutes of tapping every day this could be a reality.I am passionate about helping children, and therefore our wider society be a happier, calmer place so I am currently offering visits to primary and secondary schools to train teachers and classes for free.

EFT and Research

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or “Tapping” is a body/mind self-help method that is easy to learn and flexible enough to be used by anyone. It involves tapping with fingertips on acupressure points on the hands, face and body while giving focused attention to uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. When we are willing to face negative emotions like guilt, hurt, fear or anger while tapping (instead of trying to fight them or push them away), we can experience surprising relief. After just a few rounds of EFT tapping, for example, people often report feeling lighter, calmer and able to breathe more easily. In addition to providing relief from stress when we need it, EFT tapping can be also used therapeutically to help us address the roots of our problems and make lasting changes.Findings from 300+ research studies, fMRI scans, gene expression research, and real-world data from millions of users worldwide show us that Tapping:1. Calms the Amygdala (Your Brain's Alarm Centre)
Tapping reduces activity in the amygdala, the region responsible for triggering fight-or-flight responses. When the amygdala quietens down, the brain shifts out of survival mode and the body follows.
2. Rapidly Reduces Cortisol (The Stress Hormone)
A 2020 study demonstrated a 43% cortisol reduction following a single 1 hour tapping session. Lower cortisol is linked to improved mood, emotional regulation, immune function, and metabolic balance.
3. Downregulates the Stress Response System
By reducing sympathetic arousal, Tapping supports the body's shift into parasympathetic mode. This state is associated with recovery, improved digestion, hormonal balance, and enhanced cognitive function.
4. Interrupts Old Patterns and Rewires the Brain
Tapping acts as a pattern interrupt that calms your nervous system. When you interrupt old, automatic stress reactions and signal safety to your brain, it's easier to shift unhelpful patterns and strengthen new, healthier habits.
5. Demonstrates Consistent Clinical Effectiveness
Across anxiety disorders, PTSD, phobias, depression, cravings, pain, and stress-related medical conditions, Tapping has been shown to produce measurable, significant results.
EFT Tapping is now used by:Hospitals and integrative medical centres including increasingly in NHS
Some police forces to clear trauma
Mental health practitioners
Coaches and wellness providers
School counsellors and educators
Corporate and athletic performance programs

About me

Several years ago I experienced a traumatic event. It caused me to lose my successful career in earth science, led to my divorce and to finding myself moved far away from all my friends and my family.I was grieving all the loss but also felt the associated frustration, anger and jealousy and I suffered depression and anxiety. I saw a therapist who at the end of each session did just a few minutes of tapping which seemed very strange at first but somehow I knew there was something good in it.I built a new life, found new friends and a new partner and muddled my way through on my own with my two children but once they reached their teenage years more challenges came along.I was fine, I was doing okay but I wasn’t thriving and I wasn’t fulfilled and I felt anxiety again.I remembered the tapping I had done some years before and knew I had to come back to that. Its effects were fast and I immediately felt past events that I’d been hanging on to for so long, start to lift away. I discovered, and was able to clear the belief patterns created in my childhood that had been holding me back all my life. I was already feeling calmer, lighter and more peaceful. The shakiness in my heart which had become a constant was cleared and I was able to transform my life completely. During this time I trained as a practitioner so I could deepen my EFT practice and help other people experience the amazing benefits that I continue to experience to this day.Along the way I had sought solace in art, being a creative maker since childhood. My other solace has always been spending time in wild places, hiking on rugged mountains and on wild stormy coasts and it is mostly these which inspire my art.Hence the name, Wild Earth Calm Heart came to be. A fusion of my earth science background, my work with ceramics and my love of wild places combined with the hugely calming effects of EFT tapping that have brought peace and calm to my heart.I would love to be able to help you on your journey from stress and anxiety or whatever it is you are holding onto to find peace and calm in your own heart.

What my clients say

As a middle-aged, male, builder I had never taken time to consider my emotions or feelings. I was reluctant to discuss my mental health or how to improve it and was certainly sceptical of any complementary therapy. But, having been diagnosed with tension related tightness in my vocal cords causing pain and breathing difficulties for which conventional medicine and treatments were offering little in the way of relief, I was more open.It was immediately clear that Caroline passionately believes in the benefits of EFT. She was professional and reassuring and being aware of my reservations was quick to explain the process and put me at ease. Our discussions and the subsequent tapping techniques, which initially felt somewhat awkward, soon felt completely natural and genuinely soothing.During the EFT sessions I spent time thinking deeply and clearly about a few uncomfortable instances from my past that might have resulted in stress or anxiety in later life. With Caroline as a guide, I was able to break these memories down into less troublesome bites and one by one bring myself to understand that these smaller bites were not so bad. Slowly I began to accept that these memories were in the past and no longer something that should cause me any distress. After a few sessions I was genuinely feeling more relaxed about some of the childhood memories that had, up until that point, caused me to feel regret and sadness. I have since been able to use this experience to apply what I have learned to other memories that I also find upsetting to recall and have become more relaxed about these too.I am very pleasantly surprised about what I have gained from EFT with Caroline’s help and EFT has had a very positive impact on my life. It has certainly led to me achieving a calmer state of mind and hence has gone some way to relieving the tension in my neck and throat. Moreover, I now feel I am armed with a tool to carry forwards into future difficult situations.Neil, Gloucestershire, UK
